Ford has finally unveiled the performance details of the new 2018 Ford Mustang GT and we are happy to announce that it will be the fastest Mustang ever came out of the Ford’s assembly lines.
Powering the base model will be a more robust 5.0L V8 unit cranking out 460 horsepower and 420 pounds-feet of torque mated to the 10-speed automatic transmission system. The manual option is there too, but to get to 60 mph in under 4.0 seconds, customers have to opt for 10-speed with drag strip mode, which allows the engine not to drop torque during shifting, thus they “get peak engine torque and horsepower straight through,” said Mustang chief engineer Gene Widmann.
Ecoboost fans would also be able to enjoy better torque and can opt for 10-speed transmission to get to 60 mph in less than 5.0 seconds. Those opting for the new Mustang GT with Performance Package can even beat PDK-equipped Porsche 911 Carrera, which wears a price tag of $94,000. While we are not sure of the price of the new 2018 Ford Mustang GT, the outgoing model starts from $33,000. So, we expect the price of the new model a slightly higher than the current model.
