The Ferrari Portofino has finally arrived, replacing the ‘California T’ and establishing itself as the new entry-level GT car. The Italian automaker has not just redesigned the exterior of the Portofino to make it even more attractive, but also enhanced the powertrain for a better performance.
It is powered by a 3.9-liter turbocharged V8 engine, the same we find in the California T, but has been thoroughly upgraded. The tweaks include new pistons, con-rods, and an intake system. As a result, the V8 engine now delivers 592 horsepower, which is 40 hp more than the California T. With these added ponnies, the Ferrari Portofino will jump to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.5 seconds.
The exhaust system has been revised too with a new one-piece-cast exhaust header that reduces turbo lag, consequently improving the acceleration.
Talking about the design, the Ferrari Portofino boasts a two-box fastback configuration with a retractable hard-top. The large radiator grille along with full LED headlights and air-intake vents add to the overall sporty character of the car. The design is not just good-looking, but aerodynamically efficient as well.
The cabin offers a 10.2 inch touch display, 18-way electrically adjustable seats, new air conditioning system and more. More details will be available, as the Ferrari Portofino makes its debut at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September.
