After a successful debut at the 85th Geneva Motor Show last month, the much- anticipated Honda Civic Type R has been confirmed for a release in the United States. It has not yet been revealed whether the 4th generation Civic will be shaped into a five-door hatchback, a regular sedan or an admirable coupe.
Wild Speed’s attempt to redesign the Civic coupe concept into a Type R model is more appealing to American car enthusiasts who are sure to be seduced by the car’s aggressive, glossy appearance. The front end of the vehicle has been sharpened and the lines flow perfectly from front to back. The car’s white body goes well with the emphasized use of red on its lower section and wheels that have red badges. The interior is also maintained red to give it a more sporty appeal.
A quad exhaust system has been installed with tips placed right in the middle of it, resembling the system visible in a Corvette Stingray. The car’s engine is a four-cylinder, 2.0L turbocharged gasoline engine connected to a 6-speed manual transmission. It sprints from 0-100 km/h in 5.7s and can accelerate up to an impressive 270 km/h. A useful specification in the Type R is the R+ button, installed to increase the chassis & engine response for intensified driving thrills. Honda has not made an announcement on the release date, but the car is expected to go on sale in America later this year.
