Top Sports Cars
Each year brings a new crop of sports cars but that doesn’t mean they’re necessarily the best options when you come to hire a Ferrari, Lamborghini or Porsche.
In fact the very best supercar hire cars often have a bit of age to them – celebrated models that have stood the test of time – so here are five of the top sports cars if you are looking for a Ferrari or Lamborghini hire car, or any other supercar rental for that matter, over the course of 2018.
1. Lamborghini Countach
If you’re a sports car fan you really have to embrace the opportunity to drive a Lamborghini Countach hire car, one of the most loved models not just from Lamborghini, but in the supercar world as a whole, since its 1974 launch.
The Countach frequently finishes near the top of countdowns of the best sports cars of the 1970s (and some all-time lists too) and with a top speed of nearly 200mph and 0-60mph in 6.8 seconds, it’s as fun to drive as it is for a photo opportunity posing alongside its angles, edges and curves.
2. Koenigsegg
The Swedish supercar marque burst on to the motoring scene in 2002 with the launch of their first road-legal sports car, a genuinely stunning original design that is well worth a hire – if you can find one.
With fairly few Koenigseggs available to hire, it’s worth keeping an open mind about exactly which model you go for. Just make sure that whatever you choose, it’s legal to drive on public roads in the UK and any other countries you might plan to visit.
3. Porsche Boxster S
The Porsche Boxster S is a two-seater, making it a sneaky supercar hire option if you want to make certain the kids stay behind at home.
Despite its sporty seating though, it handles well and even comes equipped with parking sensors, making it a good option for shorter hires, although the lack of luggage space means if you take a longer road trip, you’ll have to make do with a fairly compact overnight bag.
4. Bentley GT Continental Speed
In contrast with the Boxter, the Bentley GT Continental Speed, which marks its fifth anniversary in 2018, is far more spacious, with four seats and a reasonably sized boot too making it a good choice for a family supercar hire experience.
You can still hit 60mph in about four seconds, with a 575 bhp engine and an eight-speed automatic gearbox that takes the stress out of the drive if you’re not used to manually shifting through such a range.
5. Ferrari California
The Ferrari California is, for now, one of the casualties of 2017 – it lasted a respectable decade in production but from 2018, it is due to be succeeded by the Ferrari Portofino.
That makes it the perfect time to hire a Ferrari California and especially to hire a Ferrari California T, the later update of the model first introduced in 2014 and manufactured through to 2017 as well.
It’s a genuinely beautiful car with all the hallmarks of Ferrari design, but more sleek than shouty, making it ideal for a road trip that will turn heads for all the best reasons.
